K-Kids

2017 K-Kids

K-Kids is the elementary branch of the Kiwanis Club of Elizabethton, an organization of Kiwanis International. The club does various service projects throughout the year to benefit children and families at Harold McCormick and in the Community. In the past, these projects included cleaning out the flower beds around HME and planting new flowers and adding mulch, donating over 900 canned good items to Hale Community Ministries, donating pennies for the Ronald McDonald House, singing Christmas Carols to the residents at Ivy Hall Nursing Home, collecting cleaning supplies and snacks for HME’s custodial staff as well as making them and the cafeteria workers candy cards, collecting small supplies for teacher appreciation week such as: sticky note pads, pens, erasers, sharpies, highlighters, and of course, some chocolate to give to each teacher, and a pack of Extra gum was given to each teacher’s assistant. The club is open to students in 4th and 5th grades, and members are selected by teachers.

Show Choir

2017 Show Choir

Show Choir is an auditioned group of 4th and 5th grade students and provides many performance opportunities to students involved. They sing at HME Honors Day each year and perform a school concert in April. Past groups have performed at the lighting of the Frasier Fir in downtown Elizabethton, participated in the Elizabethton Christmas parade, sung at multiple nursing homes during the holidays, and performed at Dollywood! The students are more determined and focused than in the normal classroom setting. For many students, this is their first choir opportunity and will hopefully be a stepping stone to many more musical experiences to come. The faculty sponsor is Music Teacher Emilee Whitehead.
